Loving Response: Pregnancy Among Leaders

Do we take out leaders from their service if they fall pregnant out of marriage? Yes.

Our response is always a response of love and openness to life. We do not take them out of service as a punishment or condemnation but ultimately to respond in loving, i.e.:

• To protect the sister from any malicious and unnecessary gossip.
• For the reason that she is in a situation and position where she has to take care of herself and focus on her new role of mother to be.
• To transition her to a group/household where her needs will supported by people with the same concern as hers such as Couples for Christ or Handmaids of the Lord.
• To avoid conflict in conveying our programs and teachings to the members.
• Although pre-marital sex is a sin, the gift of life is a blessing. In community, we always say hate the sit and not the sinner. And we always welcome and celebrate life.
• The same reasons also hold for brothers who have gotten their girlfriends pregnant.
